Herman Miller Eames EA178 Loose Cushion Armchair - This lot features a mid-century modern swivel office armchair, identified as the EA178 Loose Cushion Armchair designed by Charles and Ray Eames for Herman Miller. The chair is constructed with a molded fiberglass shell featuring a cream-colored exterior and full upholstery in mustard yellow fabric. The design includes a high back, integrated sloping arms, and a separate, zippered seat cushion. The shell is finished with a white vinyl edge trim. The unit is mounted on a four-star polished aluminum contract base with black casters. The underside of the shell retains several original manufacturer labels and stamps, including a black ink stamp reading T 7 8 1 T 8 O H, a white patent label from Herman Miller Inc. Zeeland, Michigan, and a secondary strip label marked EC 176. A manufacturer tag listing locations in Michigan, California, and Georgia is present, along with a BIFMA flammability standard sticker bearing the Herman Miller logo. Overall Width: 25 inches Seat Height: 18 inches. The chair is in good vintage condition. The mustard yellow fabric shows staining and soiling, particularly on the seat cushion and along the interior of the armrests. The white edge piping shows visible wear, scuffing, and discoloration. The polished aluminum base and casters exhibit minor scuffing and oxidation consistent with age and use.
