Himalayan Carved Bone White Metal Kohl Flask - A Himalayan-style kohl or snuff flask featuring a tapered body constructed from a section of carved bone. The object is embellished with white metal mounts, likely a silver-toned alloy or nickel silver, decorated with scrolling filigree and wirework borders. The metalwork is inset with four circular cabochons, including two red stones and two pale blue-green stones. A central diamond-shaped metal plaque with chased decoration is located on the front of the bone body. The flask includes a removable metal stopper with a pointed finial and a suspension loop at the top. A tapered wooden applicator tool is attached to the side of the flask via two metal rings. The underside of the metal base contains several incised lines and a series of small, punched dots forming a V or Y shape. Total Height: Approximately 5 inches (12.7 cm). The item is in good vintage condition consistent with age and use. The bone body shows natural staining and minor surface abrasions. The metalwork exhibits expected tarnish and wear to the filigree. The metal stopper shows oxidation and rust at the base of the insert. Cabochons appear secure.
