Italian 800 Silver Filigree Carved Shell Cameo Brooch 7.5 Grams - An oval shell cameo featuring a carved classical-style female figure in profile. The figure is shown wearing a flowing gown and carrying a cornucopia or basket of flowers. The carving consists of a cream-colored foreground against a natural light orange and tan shell background. The cameo is bezel-set within an 800 silver frame decorated with openwork filigree scrolling. The reverse is fitted with a horizontal pin with a revolving safety clasp and a circular bail at the top for use as a pendant. A raised rectangular metal tab on the reverse bottom edge is stamped with the hallmark 800. The item is in good vintage condition. The silver setting shows light, even tarnish and patina consistent with age. The shell carving is crisp with no visible cracks or chips. The pin mechanism and bail are functional.
