Antique Hubbard's Patent Amethyst Glass Precision Oiler - This antique precision oiler, produced under Hubbard's patent, consists of a flask-shaped body of deep amethyst glass. The glass is mold-pressed and secured within a silver-toned metal cage featuring a repeating circular cabochon pattern and rope-twist borders. The vessel is fitted with a threaded brass collar and a long, tapering, faceted brass spout. The base of the glass is embossed with the following manufacturer and patent information: PATENTED HUBBARDS CAN MAY 23 1871 JAN 7 1873. While visually similar to certain Mediterranean rose water sprinklers, the embossed markings identify this as a specialized tool intended for use with delicate machinery. Overall Height: 11 inches Spout Length: 5.5 inches The item is in good antique condition. The amethyst glass is intact with no significant chips or cracks visible. The metal overlay shows expected wear to the plating, revealing the base metal beneath. The brass spout and collar have a natural aged patina. Internal residue and surface grime are present from historical use. The threaded spout remains functional and detachable.
