North African Style Carved Bone and Metal Filigree Decorative Mask - This decorative wall hanging mask is constructed from a large, convex section of hand-carved organic material, likely camel bone or stone, featuring a cream to honey-colored surface. The exterior exhibits rhythmic hand-carved hatch patterns and a finely textured surface. The facial features are articulated through applied silver-toned white metal filigree, utilizing techniques such as braided twist wire and decorative looped wire borders. The eyes are represented by two inset domed metal cabochons. A triangular metal plaque with a wave-shaped wire element is positioned at the forehead. The reverse side displays a raw, tool-marked surface consistent with hand-carving and includes a small metal loop for hanging. No maker marks, signatures, or hallmarks are present on the object. Length: 10 inches Width: 5.5 inches Depth: 3 inches. The item is in very good vintage condition. The metalwork exhibits a natural patina and tarnish consistent with age, particularly within the recessed areas of the filigree. The carved base shows natural variations in color, and stable hairline fissures characteristic of the material.
