Two Pieces of Studio Pottery by Sylvia Coppola and Maher - This lot consists of two pieces of contemporary studio pottery including a handled stoneware vessel and a cylindrical lidded jar. The first piece is a bulbous, slightly flattened stoneware vase with a wide flared rim and two ribbed lug handles at the shoulder. It is finished in a multi-tonal glaze featuring a rich ferruginous brown at the top and a speckled turquoise-green on the lower body, accented with incised abstract X motifs. The base is signed in brown oxide Sylvia Coppola NC. The second piece is a cylindrical stoneware jar with a matching lid, both featuring scalloped or pie-crust edges. The body is finished in a light olive-green glaze with an incised wavy line, while the lid displays a central spiral surrounded by radiating impressed textures resembling stylized wheat stalks in a dark brown slip. The underside of the base features an incised signature for Maher. Handled vase: 6.5 inches height Lidded jar: 3.5 inches height Both pieces are in excellent condition with no visible chips, cracks, or repairs.
