A Collection of Haviland Limoges and Bavaria Hand Painted Porcelain Tableware in the Azalea Pattern - This collection of fine porcelain tableware features pieces manufactured by Haviland and Company in Limoges, France, and various manufacturers in Bavaria, Germany. The set is decorated in the Azalea pattern, characterized by hand-painted pink and white blossoms set against shaded pastel backgrounds of pale blue, yellow, and peach. The floral motifs are accented with raised white enamel jeweling in the centers, and the pieces are finished with heavy gold paste gilding on the rims and handles. The assortment includes luncheon plates, teacups, coffee cups, saucers, lidded sugar bowls, creamers, salt and pepper shakers, egg cups, a lidded mustard pot on a fixed stand, an oval handled tray, a long tray, and a bowl with a reticulated lattice rim. Several pieces bear the green underglaze Haviland France mark used between 1894 and 1931, featuring four small dots beneath the country name. Other pieces are marked Bavaria. There is minor scattered wear to the gold gilding, specifically on the handles and the feet of the sugar bowl. One small chip is located on the rim of one square open salt. The hand-painted decoration remains vibrant across the set.
