A Set of Four Chinese Carved Boxwood Figurines - This set of four hand-carved figurines is crafted from wood, likely boxwood, featuring a polished reddish-brown stain. The collection depicts traditional Chinese characters, possibly representing folk figures or common occupations. The group includes a man wearing a conical hat and holding a walking staff, a man carrying a large sack over his shoulder, a figure in flowing robes with a ceremonial headdress, and an elderly man with a long beard holding a fish. Each figure is positioned on an integral, tiered base carved to resemble a rocky outcrop. The undersides of the bases show faint rectangular impressions, which are consistent with mid-20th century export marks. Height: 6 inches The figurines show age-related wear, including minor scuffs to the finish and accumulated dust. Structural issues include a significant vertical split in the base of the figure carrying a sack and a vertical drying crack on the back of the robed figure.
