Large Tonala Mexican Pottery Pitcher with Bird Motif - This hand-painted earthenware pitcher is a classic example of Tonala bruñido, or burnished, pottery from Jalisco, Mexico. The vessel features a tall, ovoid body with a single strap handle and a wide, flared spout. The exterior is decorated using a traditional earth-toned palette of black, white, ochre, and reddish-brown. Height: 13 inches Width at the base is approximately 5.5 inches. The piece is in good overall condition with wear consistent with age. There is a small chip on the inner rim of the spout and another on the top edge of the handle. A fine hairline crack is visible at the junction where the handle meets the body. A small chip is present on the foot rim. The decorated surface shows minor scuffs and surface wear throughout.
