Mid Century Japanese White Silk Rinzu Uchikake Wedding Kimono - A Japanese wedding kimono, known as an uchikake, constructed from white figured silk damask (rinzu). The exterior fabric features a woven-in sayagata (geometric key-fret) pattern throughout the background. The robe is elaborately decorated with high-relief embroidery (shishu) and gold thread couching. The reverse side of the label bears a red circular stamp with Japanese characters, including 正 and 絹 (shoken), which translates to genuine silk. Width across shoulders and sleeves: 51.5 inches. The kimono is in excellent vintage condition. The silk fabric remains bright with minor creasing consistent with storage and handling. The embroidery is well-preserved, showing no significant loose threads, pulls, or staining in the documented areas.
