A Basket of Peaches Framed Lithograph - This late Victorian color lithograph on paper depicts a still life of peaches and clusters of green and purple grapes spilling from a tipped-over woven wicker basket. This composition is based on a work by the American artist William Mason Brown. A printed inscription along the lower center edge reads: COPYRIGHT 1894 BY J. HOOVER & SON, PHILAD'A. The print is set behind glass with an integrated olive-green mat. The verso reveals a weathered wooden frame construction with a modern white backing board held by nails and a contemporary metal sawtooth hanger. 25 x 28.5 in. Fair to good condition. There are visible chips and losses to the gesso decoration on the frame corners and outer edges. The wood molding shows surface scuffs and general wear consistent with age. The print itself exhibits minor age-related toning.
