Framed Japanese Silk Landscape Embroidery - This mid-century Japanese silk embroidery depicts a traditional castle tower set within a misty mountainous landscape. The work is executed using varied thread thicknesses on a silk ground and includes an embroidered orange maker's seal in the lower-left corner. A handwritten inscription on the reverse indicates the piece was a gift from Japan dated September 13, 1963. The silk ground and surrounding paper mat display significant foxing and age-related yellowing.
