Victorian Silk and Velvet Quilt Fragment - This late 19th-century crazy quilt fragment is hand-pieced from assorted textiles including velvet, silk, satin, and brocade. Patches are joined with various decorative hand-embroidered stitches such as feather, cross, and star motifs. A three-dimensional fabric flower is appliquéd to a blue velvet section, and the piece is finished with a coarse woven backing. Height: 16.5 inches Width: 26.5 inches. The textile is in fair to good antique condition with significant shattering and splitting on multiple silk patches. Fraying and loose threads are present along the perimeter and backing fabric. The reverse shows age-related darkening.
