1st Lieutenant, Companies A and I, 20th New York Infantry. Served from May 3, 1861 to June 1, 1863. Sternberg took part in the Seven Days, Fredericksburg, and Chancellorsville battles. Member of the Hebrew Union Veteran’s Association.
