Finely framed. Laor, no. 1041. [Cologne, 1588]. One of the most important early plans of Jerusalem for understanding Biblical geography, and one of the most detailed and elaborate as well. Over 250 sites are shown and identified on the plan, which depicts Biblical-period Jerusalem and its surroundings. The Braun and Hogenberg is an expansion of Adrichom's plan of the city published in 1584 and was only one of three double-sheet plans that appeared in the Civitatis Orbis Terrarum, ”the most impressive and elaborate collection of city views ever produced” Nebenzahl, p. 33.
