ISRAËLS, JOZEF  (1824-1911). Jewish Man at Prayer. Watercolor and pen and ink on paper. Signed by the artist lower right. * Reverse: With sketch of a seated woman, sewing. 15½ x 11¾ inches (39.5 x 30 cm). Contemporary mahogany frame. This is a sensitive and finely rendered drawing of an observant Jew wrapped in a Tallit. One of very few works by Jozef Isaëls portraying figures from his own religious heritage.
