(AMERICAN JUDAICA). Synagogue Donation Recorder. Printed on paper with metal hands. Yiddish text. 9 × 11 inches (24 × 27 cm). Washington, 1913. Since it is forbidden to write on the Sabbath, this ingenious devise was utilized to record financial donations pledged by those men called up for the synagogue Torah reading.  The top three rows of dials were used to spell out the name and address of the honoree, while the dials on the lower half indicate the type of honor, the occasion, and the amount pledged.
