Moshe Alsheich (1508-93) settled in Tzfath, where he was was ordained by R. Yoseph Karo (upon whom had been conferred the reintroduced Semicha of R. Ya’akov Berab). Part of the extraordinary cabal of saintly scholars during Safed’s golden age, R. Moshe Alsheich was a teacher of R. Chaim Vital. Alsheich is one of the few rabbis to be universally known as ‘Hakadosh’ - The Holy.
