The final page contains the famed historical letter penned by the Ramba’n to his son, describing the destitute condition of Eretz Israel following the invasion of the Tatars in the year 1260. He sums up the dismal state of affairs stating: “An underlying principle is, the more holy the place, the more desolate. Jerusalem is more desolate than the rest of the Land, and Judah more desolate than the Galilee.”
