Cracow, Isaac Prostitz, 1593. R. Chaim ben Bezalel (1530-88), the older brother of the celebrated Mahara’l of Prague, studied in Lublin under R. Shlomo Luria (the Maharsha’l) and R. Shalom Shachna, before being appointed Rosh Yeshivah of Worms. Later he served as the rabbi of Friedberg, serving there until his death.
