Moshe Reischer (1840-80) was born in Jerusalem to parents who had immigrated from Poland. He served as a Shadar on behalf of the Kollel Chassidim and traveled to Europe to raise money on their behalf.  The book includes a collection of Midrashim on the nature of the Land of Israel, a description of holy places along with up-to-date information for its time (mid-19th century).
