Maimonides devotes an entire section of his Mishneh Torah to what he regards as the positive commandment “to know how to determine the first day of each month of the year.” Sepher Ibronoth was prepared by Beilin as a manual “to assist an individual fulfill this commandment.”  The text actually incorporates several small works: Igul DeRabbi Nachshon (f. 8v.); Tekuphoth DeRabbi Yitzchak VeRabbi Shmuel (f. 20v.); and Sepher Ra'amim (ff. 26v.-27r).
