FINKEL, ELIEZER YEHUDAH (Rosh Yeshiva Mir, 1879-1965). Three Typed Letters Signed written in Hebrew on letterhead. Letters of recommendation for Rabbis Yeshayohu Shimanowitz and Pinchos Briskman. Cheshvan, 1952 and Elul 1953. Two letters with stamp. Folds, small tears at margins. “Reb Leizer Yudel” as he was fondly called, was the son of R. Nosson Tzvi Finkel (“Der Alter fun Slabodka”) and son-in-law of R. Eliyahu Baruch Kamai, head of the Mir Yeshivah, whose position he inherited. Following WWII, it was R. Finkel who firmly re-established the Mirrer Yeshiva in Jerusalem. R. Yeshayahu Shimanowitz was the Rosh Yeshiva of Rabbeinu Yaakov Yosef (RJJ). His brother-in-law, R. Pinchos Briskman, was a senior student of R. Elchonon Wasserman and the son-in-law of the Admor of Skolye, R. Dovid Yitzchok Eizik Rabinowitz.
