A FINE LARGE INDIAN COMPANY SCHOOL PAINTING OF AN EAGLE, CALCUTTA, EARLY 19TH CENTURY - The eagle is depicted in profile, facing left, with precise attention to the textures of its feathers, beak, and talons. The bird has a brown body with a slightly lighter, speckled chest, a hooked black beak, and sharp claws gripping the branch below. The painting is framed in a simple wooden frame with a cream-coloured mount, giving it a clean, classical presentation. The background is left plain white, a hallmark of Company School paintings, which were often created for scientific or educational purposes during British colonial rule in India in the early 19th century.
