ARABIC MANUSCRIPT ON OCCULT SCIENCES: TWO TEXTS ON MAGIC, TALISMANS, AND AWFAQ BY ALBUNI AND SHAHR BIN ABI ZAYD, COPIED 1290 AH - ARABIC MANUSCRIPT ON OCCULT SCIENCES: TWO TEXTS ON MAGIC, TALISMANS, AND AWFAQ BY ALBUNI AND SHAHR BIN ABI ZAYD, COPIED 1290 AH The first text is attributed to Imam Aḥmad ibn ʿAlī al-Būnī (d. 1120 AH), a well-known authority in the sciences of letters, talismans, and spiritual knowledge. His works were widely studied and copied within esoteric and Sufi intellectual circles. The second text is “Naẓm al-Maqṣūd fī ʿIlm al-Siḥr wa-l-Adhqān”, a didactic poem on occult sciences by the scholar Shahr ibn Abī Zayd al-Jaznāwī, composed to summarize and systematize key principles of the discipline. The manuscript was copied by Ibn Al Tunnisi in the year 1290 AH (1873–1874 CE). Written in Arabic in a traditional hand, the volume reflects the continued transmission of esoteric knowledge in the late Islamic manuscript tradition. 23.5 x 16.5cm
