AN IZNIK POTTERY TILE, OTTOMAN TURKEY, CIRCA 1580 - The central composition features a large lobed palmette flanked by two serrated Saz leaves that curve upward to form a symmetrical framework. The design includes floral sprays, small rosettes, and scrolling stems punctuated with raised red dots. The color palette consists of cobalt blue, turquoise, and raised tomato red, also known as Armenian bole, against a white slip-covered ground. The tile is finished with a transparent lead glaze. The reverse reveals a textured, light-colored sandy ceramic body with remains of mortar. 23.5 x 23.5cm
