AN OTTOMAN CARVED JADE AND GOLD-MOUNTED SHERBET SPOON, TURKEY, 18TH - 19TH CENTURY - This Ottoman sherbet spoon is constructed from a pale green semi-translucent stone, identified as jade or nephrite, with gold-toned metal mounts. The object features an almond-shaped bowl joined to a faceted, tapering handle by a gold-colored metal ferrule, with a matching ferrule at the terminal. The reverse of the bowl is decorated with incised symmetrical scrollwork in an arabesque or rumi style.  L: 16cm
