A MESOPOTAMIAN TERRACOTTA FEMALE IDOL, TEL HALAF TYPE, CIRCA 5000-4500 B.C. - The statuette is modeled with a tapering, featureless head and arms folded beneath prominent breasts. The lower body is defined by broad, rounded hips in a kneeling or seated posture. The piece is composed of a buff-coloured ceramic body with significant remains of a reddish-ochre pigment wash across much of the surface. It is a self-standing sculpture with an integral base.  H: 7cm
