AN ISLAMIC SILVER MOUNTED CARNELIAN AMULET PENDANT, PERSIA, 19TH CENTURY - This Islamic calligraphic amulet pendant features a central octagonal carnelian plaque of a deep orange-red colour. The stone is hand-engraved in intaglio with the Arabic inscription Ya Hanan, meaning Oh Compassionate, which is one of the ninety-nine names of Allah. The calligraphy is contained within an engraved lobed cartouche. The carnelian is secured within a silver-coloured metal mount, likely silver, decorated with a twisted wire rope border and an outer rim of granulated spheres. The pendant is finished with a solid, flat metal backplate and a single loop bail for suspension. L: 2.8cm Weight: 16g
