Bidspirit auction | AN EGYPTIAN TURQUOISE FAIENCE SHABTI,
AN EGYPTIAN TURQUOISE FAIENCE SHABTI, LATE PERIOD, CIRCA 664-332 B.C. - An Ancient Egyptian shabti figurine crafted from faience with a vibrant turquoise-blue glaze. The figure is modelled in mummiform, wearing a tripartite wig and a divine beard. The hands are crossed over the chest, a pose typically designed to hold agricultural implements, although these details are softened by the thickness of the glaze layer. The reverse features a prominent vertical dorsal pillar extending from the base of the wig to the feet. The figure stands upon an integral, shallow rectangular plinth. These features, including the presence of the dorsal pillar and plinth, are characteristic of ushabtis produced during the Late Period. L: 10cm
