KHALED AL-JADER (IRAQI, 1924-1988), ABSTRACTED HARBOUR SCENE WITH FIGURES, OIL ON CANVAS - An expressive oil on canvas painting by the Iraqi modernist artist Khaled al-Jader (1924-1988). The composition depicts an abstracted harbour scene featuring figures in traditional dress in the foreground and the hulls of dhows to the right. The work is executed in a modernist style characterised by bold impasto brushwork and palette knife applications, employing a rich colour palette of deep blues, ochres, and reds. It is signed in Arabic script in the lower right corner, transcribing as Khaled al-Jader. The painting is housed in a gilt wooden frame with a wide, cream-coloured linen liner.
