On the front Forsazt leaf: "Belongs to the exceptional rabbinical the well-known God-fearing Naggid … rabbi Aryeh leib … Rivlin" (Rabbi Aryeh Leib Rivlin of Oleh, the leading disciple of the Alter Rebbe).
In an additional script: "Given as a gift to his son … Eliyahu Yosef Rivlin".
On the title page of the book, the stamp of Rabbi "Moshe Finkel Ram of the "Knesset Yisrael" Yeshiva – Slabodka-Kovna".
On the first page, the "printers' words" are printed. On the margins of the sheet, a halachic gloss in script identical to that of Rabbi Eliyahu Yosef Rivlin
On the back Forsazt leaf, three glosses handwritten by Rabbi Eliyahu Yosef Rivlin or another writer of the geniuses of his generation.

Rabbi Eliyahu Yosef Rivlin, the Head of the Chabad Community of the Land of Israel
Rabbi Eliyahu Yosef Rivlin (1805-1865), author of the book "Ohalei Yosef", a leading Hassid of the Mitteler Rebbe and the "Tzemach Tzeddek". In the book "Beit Rabbi" it is written of him: "His holy Rebbes liked him very much and used to send boys to study Torah with him … one of the rabbis, a grandson of our Rebbe, said of him the he understood our Rebbes more than the greatest Hassidim.
Rabbi Eliyahu Yosef Rivlin was born to his father Rabbi Aryeh Leib who was one of the Hasidim of the Alter Rebbe. After his marriage, he served as a rabbi and Mashpi'ah in the city of Dribin and later in Plock. After becoming sick, he decided to immigrate to the Land of Israel to be cured by its pure air and in 1947 he indeed immigrated and became of the first Chabad Hassidim of Jerusalem. He was appointed one of the heads of Kollel Chabad and his signature appears on important documents that were published by the rabbis of Jerusalem at the time. He was considered the rabbi of the Chabad Hassidim of the Land of Israel. Among his disciples: Rabbi Shneur Zalman of Lublin author of "Torat Chessed". He left the land of Israel only once, in 1855, to meet the Rebbe, the Tzemach Tzeddek, who received him with two burning candles in his hands. Rabbi Eliyahu was the one who established the Tzemach Tzeddek Synagogue, according to the request of the Rebbe and was one of his leading Hassidim.
Rabbi Moshe Finkel
Studied at the Mir Yeshiva with Rabbi Eliyahu Baruch Kamai and Rabbi Eliezer Gordon. He was also sent by his father (together with his brother Rabbi Eliezer Yehuda) to study with Rabbi Chaim Solovetchik in Brisk. He also studied a while with the Chafetz Chaim in Radun.
In Sivan 1913, he married Sarah, the daughter of Rabbi Moshe Mordechai Epstein, the head of the Slabodka yeshiva. After his marriage, he started serving as a Ram in the Yeshiva amd gave Mussar lessons. Later, he established a preparatory program for the Slabodka Yeshiva titled "Or Yisrael", where he also gave lessons.
In 1925, he immigrated to the Land of Israel to serve as a Ram in a Yeshiva in Hebron. After less than a year, on Chol Ha'Moed Sukkot, he died suddenly when he was 43 years old.
Condition: Fair. Varying moth signs. The title page is torn. The front Forsazt leaf is detached. The back Forsazt leaf is torn with damage to text.
