An envelope written in Arabic, from the village of Jeoni, Rosh Pina post office, to Haifa, 1945, apparently the only one in the world, rare! rare! rare! - background In 1878, a group of 30 families from Safed bought half of the land of the Arab village of Jeoni, a village near Safed that lies east of it. The settlers called the new settlement Gya Oni, similar to the sound of the name of the Arab settlement. The settlement was established a few weeks before the establishment of the Petah Tikva settlement by settlers from Jerusalem and hence it is the first Jewish settlement founded in the Land of Israel in the modern period. After several incarnations, her name was Rosh Pina. The village of Jeoni continued to exist near Rosh Pina. Its inhabitants were simple peasants, whose lives they lived in the village. Like most of their Palestinian brothers, they did not know how to read and write, and of course they did not lend a hand in writing letters. In 1948, emissaries of the Arab leaders came to the village and incited its residents against the Jews. The jihad of the war against the infidels was in the air. We do not know of another letter from there. רקע ב-1878 רכשה חבורה של 30 משפחות מבני צפת, מחצית מאדמות הכפר הערבי ג'עוני, כפר סמוך לצפת ששכן מזרחית לה. המתיישבים קראו ליישוב החדש בשם גיא אוני, בדומה לצליל שמו של היישוב הערבי. המושבה הוקמה שבועות מספר לפני הקמת המושבה פתח תקווה בידי מתיישבים מירושלים ומכאן שהיא המושבה היהודית הראשונה שנוסדה בארץ ישראל בתקופה המודרנית. לאחר גלגולים נקרא שמה ראש פינה. הכפר ג'עוני המשיך להתקיים ליד ראש פינה. תושביו היו פלחים פשוטים, שאת חייהם חיו בכפר. כרוב אחיהם הפלחים הם לא ידעו קרוא וכתוב, וכמובן לא נתנו ידם בחליפת מכתבים. ב148 שלוחי המנהיגים הערביים באו לכפר והסיתו את תושביו כנגד היהודים. הג'האד של המלחמה בכופרים היה באויר. אך המנהיגים הללו לא הסתפקו בזה ואמרו לתושבי הכפר שכדאי להם לעזוב [!] ובמהרה הם יחזרו לכפר ולבתי היהודים בראש פינה עם הצבא הערבי המנצח... כך הגיע לקיצו הכפר הזה. לא ידוע לנו על מכתב נוסף משם. מצב: בינוני – טוב
