Profusely illustrated with four maps (two double-page), tinted lithographic frontispiece, vignette title page, 24 steel-engraved plates and plans, and over 25 in-text engravings and diagrams. The frontispiece, captioned ”Jewish Family on Mount Zion, ” constitutes a rare visual document of Jewish life in mid-19th-century Jerusalem. Bartlett died on his final voyage in 1854 and was buried at sea. With manuscript ownership inscription: Chapel Farm, March 21st, 1931, initialled E. Tov.
