Latin translation and edition by Wilhelm Abraham Teller (1734–1804), leading German Protestant theologian, with his critical preface on conjectural criticism of the Old Testament and Vogel's review of the Hebrew Helmstedt Codex. Benjamin Kennicott (1718–1783), Fellow of Exeter College Oxford and keeper of the Radcliffe Library, devoted his scholarly life to the collation of Hebrew manuscripts of the Old Testament. This second dissertation forms a central document in that enterprise and in the broader history of Hebrew textual criticism. A rare first and only edition.
