The Leningrad Codex (Codex Leningradensis, Firkovich B 19 A), written in Cairo in 1008–1009 CE by the scribe Samuel ben Jacob Jam'a, is the oldest complete manuscript of the Hebrew Bible and the basis for virtually all critical editions of the Hebrew Bible. This landmark scholarly facsimile, produced under the auspices of the University of Michigan in cooperation with the Ancient Biblical Manuscript Center and West Semitic Research Project, includes sixteen full-colour illuminated carpet pages reproducing the Codex's medieval artwork in precise detail, together with introductory essays by Beck, Lebedev, Revell, and Sanders on the history, paleography, and photographic documentation of the manuscript.
