Calligraphy Hanging Scroll,by Luo Zhenyu - Luo Zhenyu (1866–1940), with courtesy names Shuyun and Shuyan, art name Xuetang, and late-age pseudonym Zhen Song Lao Ren (Old Man of the Steadfast Pine), was a native of Huai'an, Jiangsu Province, though his ancestral roots were in Shangyu, Zhejiang. A renowned modern scholar, he excelled in fields such as epigraphy, paleography, and archaeology. As the foremost of the ”Four Great Scholars of Oracle Bone Studies” (甲骨四堂), Luo made exceptional contributions to the research of oracle bone inscriptions, the preservation of Ming and Qing archives, and the collation of Dunhuang manuscripts. His extensive body of work has had a profound and lasting impact on Chinese academia.
