The West Wind Blows Down a Crimson Rain,by Fu Baoshi - Fu Baoshi (October 5, 1904 – September 29, 1965), born in Nanchang, Jiangxi, with ancestral roots in Xinyu, Jiangxi, was originally named Changsheng. He also used the pseudonym ”Baoshi Zhai Master.” He was an outstanding modern Chinese painter, art historian, calligrapher, and art educator, renowned as a representative figure of ”New Landscape Painting” in China. Fu Baoshi studied in Japan in his early years, and upon returning to China, he taught at Central University. After 1949, he served as a professor at Nanjing Normal University and later as the director of the Jiangsu Chinese Painting Academy. In painting, Fu was known for his landscape and figure works. In middle age, he developed the ”Baoshi Stroke,” characterized by free and bold brushwork, with a powerful and imposing style. He was particularly skilled in depicting scenes of waterfalls, springs, and misty landscapes. In his later years, he focused on large-scale works, showcasing a strong and vigorous spirit. His figure paintings, particularly of ladies and high scholars, featured ancient and refined imagery.
