Wisteria Flower,by Qi Baishi - Qi Baishi (January 1, 1864 – September 16, 1957) was of Han ethnicity, originally from Suozhou, Anhui Province, and was born in Xiangtan, Hunan Province (now Xiangtan, Hunan). His original name was Chunzhi, later changed to Huang, and his courtesy name was Binsheng, with the art names Baishi or Baishi Weng. He was a renowned Chinese modern calligrapher, painter, seal carver, and poet. In his early years, he worked as a carpenter, later making a living by selling his paintings. After the age of 57, he settled in Beijing. Qi Baishi was known for his mastery in painting flowers, birds, insects, fish, landscapes, and figures. His brushwork was bold and rich, his colors vivid and bright, his forms simple yet lively, and his artistic conception was sincere and unpretentious. He advocated that the charm of painting lies in the balance between ”what resembles and what doesn't resemble.”
