Shixi landscape painting - Shi Xi (1612-1692), originally named Kuncan, with the pen name Jieqiu and the pseudonyms Shi Xi and Bai Tu, was a renowned painter during the late Ming and early Qing dynasties. Born in Changde, Hunan Province, he is often referred to alongside Shi Tao as the ”Two Stones” and is recognized as one of the ”Four Buddhist Painters of the Early Qing Dynasty”. He was particularly skilled in landscape painting, characterized by its rugged and dense style, with profound and intricate themes.
