Bidspirit auction | Song Dynasty, Ding Ware Large

Song Dynasty, Ding Ware Large Bowl - A substantial bowl with gently flared rim, softly curving sides, and short neatly cut foot. The body is covered in an ivory-white glaze with a subtle warm undertone, characteristic of Ding ware—lustrous yet subdued, smooth yet alive to the eye. Faint natural streaks, known as ”tear-drops,” trace the glaze, a hallmark of the kiln. Plain and unadorned, it relies entirely on form, color, and subtle texture for its beauty. The fine white porcelain body is crisp and well-potted. Graceful, balanced, and quietly majestic—an embodiment of Song purity and understated perfection.
