Song Dynasty, Hutian Ware Qingbai Glazed Bowl Stand - This cup stand presents a simple yet elegant form, composed of a dish and a tall foot with well-balanced proportions and flowing lines. The wide, everted rim curves gently upward with a thin, crisp edge, creating a graceful arc. The center of the dish is slightly concave with a flat base designed to hold a tea cup, while the walls slope inward in a smooth, natural transition. The tall foot splays outward in a trumpet shape, with the unglazed foot rim revealing a fine, compact, white clay body bearing traces of kiln-support firing. The entire piece is covered in a lustrous qingbai (bluish-white) glaze, characteristically translucent and jade-like with a cool bluish tint emerging from the white—typical of Hutian ware's celebrated ”yingqing” tone. The glaze surface is glossy and vitreous, and the body is notably thin, exhibiting excellent translucency when held to the light. The glaze is evenly applied across both the interior and exterior of the dish and the outer foot, pooling to a slightly deeper blue-green tone in the recesses, adding subtle depth. Completely devoid of carved or incised decoration, the piece achieves its beauty solely through the purity of its glaze and the refinement of its form, fully embodying the Hutian kiln's ethereal aesthetic of ”jade-like skin on a pure white bone.
