Song Dynasty, Ding Ware Green Glazed Floral Lidded Box - A round, lidded box with neatly fitting lid and compact body, its form smoothly rounded and quietly balanced. The entire piece is cloaked in a rich emerald-green glaze, naturally varied in tone—deepest at the recesses, softening to lighter celadon along the curves—with a lustrous, jade-like sheen held close to the surface. The domed lid bears a finely impressed floral medallion: blossoms and foliage spread in graceful symmetry, bordered by a band of beaded detail, the design rising gently beneath the glaze, softly defined yet instantly alive. The sides are plain and unadorned, letting the glaze speak for itself. Elegant, understated, and beautifully proportioned—a fine example of Song ceramic refinement.
