Southern Song Dynasty: Kinuta-style Celadon Foliate-rim Bowl - A superb Southern Song Longquan celadon bowl of the celebrated ”Anvil Celadon” (Zhen Qingci) quality, the very finest grade of Longquan glaze. The bowl has a graceful, five-lobed foliate rim with gently pointed petals, flaring softly at the mouth then curving smoothly down to a neatly cut, well-proportioned foot—balanced, elegant, and perfectly rhythmic in every line. Coated in a thick, luminous, pale blue-green glaze of legendary refinement: translucent like jade fat, serene as still water, with a soft, velvety sheen and scarcely any crackle. The rim is finished with a dark russet-brown band (imitating precious metal mounting), contrasting subtly with the immaculate glaze; the foot ring reveals the characteristic warm reddish-brown ”iron foot” body typical of Southern Song Longquan. Named ”Anvil Celadon” for its glaze colour—clear, deep, and pure as the legendary jade anvil—this represents the absolute apex of Longquan ceramic art: entirely unadorned, relying entirely on the perfection of its form and the incomparable beauty of its glaze. It embodies the supreme Song aesthetic: reticent, refined, profound beauty without ornament.
