Bidspirit auction | Song Dynasty, Longquan Celadon Li-Type

Song Dynasty, Longquan Celadon Li-Type Censer - A classic Longquan celadon censer from the Song dynasty, faithfully modelled after ancient bronze li vessels. With flared rim, compressed neck, swelling body and three sturdy tapering legs—elegant, balanced, and timeless. Coated in a lustrous fenqing (powder-celadon) glaze of soft jade-like green, smooth and subtly crackled, embodying the celebrated jade quality of Longquan ware. Distinctive raised white ribs run from rim to foot, revealing the pale body beneath the thin glaze, creating striking contrast. Unglazed foot bases show the warm reddish-brown huoshihong colour typical of the period. Fitted with an original pierced silver cover carved in floral scrolls, and preserved in an antique storage box with silk pouch. Harmonious in proportion, serene in tone, and consummate in craftsmanship—this is an exemplary Song Longquan celadon, cherished by connoisseurs for centuries.
