Bidspirit auction | Warring States Period, Bronze Silver-Inlaid

Warring States Period, Bronze Silver-Inlaid Chariot Fittings (Set) - This lot comprises four Warring States period bronze chariot fittings, each of distinct form and all exhibiting superb craftsmanship in excellent condition. Arched Ornament: Of semi-circular arched form with beaded dentils along the outer rim and openwork interior, centered with a scrolling cloud motif. The surface is decorated with silver-inlaid dot patterns and geometric designs, the fine silver threads arranged in neat order, creating a striking contrast against the archaic bronze ground. Curved Connector: Of bow-shaped profile with cylindrical socket terminals at both ends for attachment to chariot components. The surface is adorned with silver-inlaid geometric bands of flowing lines and natural curvature, demonstrating a perfect union of utility and ornamentation. Elongated Handle: Of slender form with a loop at one end and a simplified beast-head or decorative terminal at the other. The entire body is densely decorated with silver-inlaid cloud scrolls and linear bands, the densely packed yet orderly patterns shimmering with silver light and full of dynamic energy. Cylindrical Fitting: Of short tubular form, likely serving as an axle sleeve or pipe connector. The exterior is embellished with silver-inlaid triangular geometric patterns and stylized animal masks arranged in clearly defined registers. All four pieces display a deep bronze tone with patches of natural green patina that has permeated the surface, bearing a rich, mellow patina. The silver inlay remains clearly discernible after millennia, with the silver threads tightly integrated into the bronze ground, fully demonstrating the masterful skill and ingenious artistry of Warring States period silver-inlaid bronze work.
