Bidspirit auction | Song Dynasty: Kinuta Celadon Everted-Rim

Song Dynasty: Kinuta Celadon Everted-Rim Dish - Widely rimmed and gently flared, this washer has shallow, rounded walls tapering softly to a firm, unglazed foot. Lines flow smoothly and harmoniously, the form simple, dignified, and serene. Coated entirely in celadon of limpid, even clarity — evoking the sky just after spring rain — its hue is pure and distant, with a gentle, restrained sheen like polished jade. Entirely plain and unadorned, it excels through glaze and shape alone. The glaze thins slightly at the rim, revealing a faint pale edge; the clean unglazed foot frames the celadon beautifully. Free of ornament, it embodies the warm, jade-like softness and enduring quiet grace of the Song aesthetic at its finest.
