Palestine 1/4 Piastre Token - Breisch & Company, AE 1/4 Piastre Token (2.27g), Haffner-CC-14B, B. & C. // 1/4; A rare brass/copper merchant token issued by Breisch & Co. (B. & C.) in the late 19th century. These tokens were used by the Templer community and local merchants in Palestine to facilitate trade during a period of currency shortage. The obverse displays the bold initials ”B. & C.” within a beaded border. The reverse features the large fractional denomination ”1/4”. These tokens represent an important chapter in the economic history of the Holy Land, specifically the commercial activities of the German Templer colonies.
