Bidspirit auction | Palestine British Mandate 20 Mils
Palestine British Mandate 20 Mils 1941. NGC AU 58 - KM-5; Copper-nickel; London Mint; Mintage: 100 000. The largest denomination of the Mandate, featuring the distinctive central hole (holed coinage). The obverse displays an olive branch with the name ”Palestine” in English, Arabic, and Hebrew (including the ”ALEPH-YOD” initials). The reverse features the denomination and date. The 1941 issue is a noted scarcity, as it was minted in far smaller quantities than earlier dates, primarily due to the wartime metal shortages and the logistical challenges of the Mediterranean theater. Choice About Uncirculated (AU) 58! A truly superior example for this difficult date. This is a ”near-Mint State” specimen that fits perfectly in a top-tier collection.
