Struck during the reign of Ludovico Manin, the 120th and final Doge of Venice, whose rule ended with the fall of the Republic to Napoleon Bonaparte. An Uncirculated specimen with full, brilliant mint luster and a sharp strike on both the figures and the surrounding stars. This piece displays the rich, deep yellow hue characteristic of nearly pure (.999) Venetian gold. The figures are remarkably well-defined for a hammered issue, making it a premier example of the final chapter of Venetian independence.
